With a historic $369 billion allocated to renewable energy, zero carbon transportation, clean manufacturing, community resilience, and natural climate solutions, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) represents a major step toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building more resilient communities, according to Leonardo Lacerda and Darci Vetter from The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

As a global environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends, TNC combines science, collaboration, and innovative solutions to pursue its mission. TNC is hopeful that the United States' commitment to ambitious climate investments through the IRA will not only drive domestic progress but also encourage other nations to recommit to the goals of the Paris Agreement and strengthen their own climate pledges. While acknowledging the need for additional measures to achieve the 1.5-degree Celsius goal and fully leverage nature's potential in mitigation and adaptation, TNC stands ready to collaborate with government and industry leaders to develop comprehensive strategies that benefit both people and nature.
